Remember when I reviewed the Revlon BB cream, I went on about how it wasn't a true BB cream and this and that? Well, I thought it time to review a real BB cream for you! This is the Perfect Cover BB Cream from Missha. Missha is a Korean makeup brand and I actually picked this BB cream up as a free gift with purchase. Does this BB deliver on all of the claims that makes? Keep reading to find out!
To be clear, this BB cream makes these claims (they're printed right on the bottle): Lightens skin tone by healing visible wrinkles and blemishes, excellent skin cover, and prevents skin aging through whitening and anti-wrinkle properties. Ok, I can't speak much to the wrinkle portion of this since I'm 25 and I don't really have any... but I can speak to what I think they're talking about with anti-wrinkle.
I've been using this for about two weeks and I don't really see any lightening of my skin tone, but I know that true results for something like that usually takes about 6-8 weeks. One thing that it does have though which can help fight blemishes from becoming dark spots is sunscreen. This BB cream has SPF 42 PA+++; SPF blocks the UVB rays and PA blocks UVA rays. The pluses that follow mean that it has a high coverage level (PA goes from least (+) to most (+++)).
It's very moisturizing, but not so much that it makes your skin oily. I have combination skin (oily/normal) and this doesn't make me shiny throughout the day. I have applied this with and without moisturizer underneath and when I use moisturizer, it does get a bit slick by the end of the day. Since it's fairly moisturizing on its own, this is the part that I imagine is meant to make wrinkles less noticeable. If the formula were dry, it would make your wrinkles more noticeable and if it were overly oily, the formula would settle in the lines.
The application is very simple and they make it even easier to get out of the bottle with the pump style bottle. I apply this with my fingers, but I know that I could get even better application with a brush and buffing it in. As for coverage, I don't know if I would go as far to say that it's "excellent" coverage, but it's fairly good. It's definitely better than any of the American BB creams out there, but it's still lighter than foundation. This is what I fully expected from this BB cream since I've used other Asian BBs.
Here is my skin with some dots of BB cream on the cheek. The mark on my lip is a scar, not a wrinkle and several of the "pores" by my nose are not actually pores but suture scars, so they can't be easily covered.
Overall, I like this BB cream, but I'm not sure if it's my favorite BB cream out there. I absolutely love to use BB creams in the winter, but I typically can't wear them in the summer when my skin gets super duper oily. If you have extremely oily skin, I probably would not recommend this, but I would definitely recommend this for most other skin types. If you have combo skin, I would recommend skipping moisturizer and if you're on the dryer side, use a moisturizer first. I got this in shade 21, which is fairly light, but fits a lot of lighter skin tones. I've heard that the next lighter shade, #13, is so incredibly light that it should only be used on the lightest of skin tones.
I got this item for free through making a purchase on the Missha website (www.misshaus.com). I am not sure if this promotion is still running, but you can check to see if it is. When you register on the Missha website, they automatically grant you the free BB cream. You simply have to order any other item (I bought an eyeshadow and a brush) and it's added to your cart for free. I will say that the shipping is kind of expensive, but I can deal with it for the free BB cream.
What do you guys think? Will you be trying this out?

I just tried the Skin 79 pink, and I love the texture of that more than this. Unfortunately, its just a tad to dark.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried any of the other samples that you got from Skin79?
