NYX Eye Shadow in Rust : Tried & True

Edit: I wrote this whole little blurb without realizing that NYX discontinued these shadows. WTF? You can still find them at Cherry Culture.

I didn't do a tried and true last week, so it's nice to return to this topic. I always have a little bit of trouble picking out the one item that I'm going to talk about each week because there are simply so many awesome things available that it's hard to pick one. However, I was searching through a makeup bag this morning and stumbled upon this shadow (I haven't used it in a while) and thought that it was perfect for today.

I think it's pretty obvious that I'm a pretty big fan of warm shadows and if you've been following this blog since its inception, then you know that I really like warm, red toned shadows. My eyes fall somewhere between green and grey, but when I wear coppers, bronzes, and red, it makes them look extra green.

Rust swatched over bare skin!

NYX's eye shadows are really hit or miss which makes it difficult for me to buy them, but when they're good, they're really good. Rust, obviously, falls into the really good category and is my go to color for a non traditional smoky eye. The pigmentation of this shadow is off the charts and the swatch above was done without primer; just swatched over bare skin. It's silky and smooth and applies just as well to the eye. The best part of it is that it's beautiful all on its own, but also beautiful layered over different bases.

All in all, it's a great shadow; awesome color pay off, easy to apply, a unique color, and affordable.

  1. Discontinued??? Is it just specific colors or all of the square shaped shadows?

    1. Unfortunately, I think it's all of the square shadows! I can't find them on NYX's website or Ulta's... I think they're done for.
