Laura Mercier Illuminating Eye Colour : Gilded Rose Gold

Back to regular posting! I didn't want to post anything while the giveaway was going on so that people could easily find that post and read the details and enter and so on. I have picked up some new items in the mean time and wanted to review one them that I was the most excited about; the Laura Mercier Illuminating Eye Colour in Gilded Rose Gold. I picked this up while it was on sale at Sephora (do you guys notice that they sometimes mark down brand new items?) and now I can't find it at all on the Sephora website. I did find it on the Laura Mercier website here, but it appears to be sold out at the time being.

You may be asking yourself, why would you buy this when you just picked up the Naked3 palette? And my answer is this: Because. I really love rose gold eye shadows and I also really love Laura Mercier and I really love sales, therefore this was the perfect thing to buy.

So what can you expect from this shadow? Everything that you have ever learned from Laura Mercier, basically. The shadow is pigmented, soft, and applies beautifully. I know that rose gold isn't everyone's cup of tea, but there's something really cool about this shadow that might make you change your mind about it. It has the ability to shift its color quite dramatically depending on how you apply it. I, for one, always apply an eye base or primer under my shadows because I have oilier lids. When I swatched this on my hand, with nothing underneath, it was very coppery, but when I swatched it over my Trish McEvoy Eye Base Essentials in Demure, it changed to a much more rose gold tone.

Since the above picture didn't show the difference well enough, I decided to bust out the trusty old camera on my phone to see if I could capture it any better with that.

In this picture, you can see the radical difference that the eye base made! This legitimately looks like two different eye shadows with the eye base underneath it. The crazy thing is that Demure (you can see it here) is a nude color and almost matches my skin perfectly (I wear Buff in Revlon Color Stay and Gobi in NARS Sheer Glow), so I don't understand the drastic difference it makes. It does, however, make me want to play with all of my cream shadows and different eye primers and see how much I can make this shadow morph.

This is just a sheer wash of it on my lid, but I wanted to include it so you could see how it appears with my skin tone. I applied it with a Sigma E25 brush (MAC 217, The Coastal Scents Pro Fluff Brush, etc. are all similar) so that I could get color all over the lid and the blend out with the same brush. Any of the brushes that I listed above will do the same thing and it's what I like to do when I'm feeling particularly lazy.

All in all, I'm very pleased with this purchase. If you love rose golds and maybe aren't feeling the Naked3 palette and just want a simple, awesome, rose gold, then I highly suggest this shadow. The quality is impeccable, just like most Laura Mercier products, and the price (it's still listed at $12 on LM's website) is pretty awesome right now. Snatch it up if you can!

Duochrome Eyes : Tutorial

Duochrome was a trend that was pretty big last year and while it isn't as huge as it was, you can still find quite a bit of eyeshadow that uses duochrome. If you're sitting there thinking "What the hell is duochrome?", let me explain it in the easiest way possible: it's (usually) a shimmer infused product that changes colors from different angles. Do you have nail polish that looks green from one angle and then if you change the angle, it looks blue? Duochrome. It can actually have numerous colors from numerous angles, but most eyeshadows use a two shade duochrome. Keep reading to find out how to get this look!

Warm Smoky Eyes : Tutorial

I don't do dark, dramatic eyes very often in real life because I think that they look goofy on me, but every once in a while, I get a desire to do them. I also tend to shy away from using straight black shadow, but I figured since I am in the midst of #30daysofmakeup (on Instagram, you can follow me @bisoubisoubangbang), why not do a look I haven't done in a while. Pretty much every time I show a smoky eye, I say that it's "really easy", but they so often are really easy. Keep reading to find out how to achieve this look.

Wilde Style : Tutorial

Ok, now I can show you the real tutorial for this. I shot this in a slightly different way than normal because I had pretty much given up on doing this tutorial (I was pissed after the screw up) and then decided at like 9 p.m. to do it, so I just did a minimal setup for it. This look really is easy to imitate and keep reading to find out how to do it!

Chocolate Covered Strawberries : Tutorial

Although I feel like I've done about 18 different tutorials using pink eyeshadow, it's still not a color that I reach for very often in my day to day routine. Every time that I end up wearing it, it's a very long thought out process because I fear that I will end up making myself look very sickly. However, one of the easiest ways to make a color more wearable (that being colors that you fear) is to add brown. Brown is pretty much the great equalizer in the world of eye makeup and an easy way to make something more day friendly. Keep reading to find out how to get this look!

NYX Love in Paris Palette : Product Review

Another product review! It's probably going to be a week of product reviews due to the fact that I'm currently in a cosmetics study and I have to use the product (eye liner) for the next ten days and am not allowed to use any other eye liners while I'm using it. Regardless, I really wanted to show you guys this product especially after the review that I did yesterday. I really do like NYX's products, it's just that some of them, like with any other cosmetics company, are duds. This palette however is amazing! There are several palettes in the "Love in Paris" line, but this particular one is Merci Beaucoup. Keep reading for why I love it and swatches!

NYX Glam Shadow Sticks : Product Review

NYX is a brand that can be extremely hit or miss for me. If you've been reading this blog for a while, then you've seen the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil pop up on here fairly often, but for every one of their products that I love, there is a product that I dislike just as much. If you can't tell which direction this review is going, I'll just let you know right now that it's not good. Keep reading to find out why I disliked the Glam Shadow Stick so much.

Simple & Easy Purple Eyes : Tutorial

One thing about this blog that I am always hoping to achieve is to show you guys looks that are simple and don't require a ton of products to recreate; 90% of the time, I want anyone and everyone to be able to recreate the look. I do plan on getting some more intensive tutorials up here, but often they will be more along the lines of everyday looks. That being said, this is a tutorials for an incredibly simple and pretty purple eye. This will be incredibly flattering if you have green or brown eyes, but it will look good on any eye color. Tokidoki Cromatico Eye Shadow Set : Product Review

Before I start this review, I want to let you know, first and foremost, that this item is on sale at Sephora.com because it's going to be discontinued. It's $29 for all 6 shadows, so if you read this and think that you might want it, just buy it. You can always return it later, but buy it now. Ok, now that this information is out of the way, I can proceed. I saw that this set was on sale at Sephora and I own several Tokidoki palettes, so I decided to pick this set up. It does not disappoint, continue reading to find out why.

Easy Green Smoky Eye: Tutorial

I am a youtube addict. I am subscribed to a ton of beauty channels on there and I just thoroughly enjoy watching people apply and talk about makeup... obviously. One of my favorite tutorial channels is Pixiwoo (you can go there channel by clicking here) and the two women who run it, Sam and Nic, are actual makeup artists and really know what they're doing. I saw a video about a year ago on a very simple smoky eye and I've decided to recreate it for you here. If you'd like to see how to get this eye look, keep reading!
