Independence Day Look : Tutorial

Since tomorrow is July 4th, I thought it would be fun to do a look that is patriotic, but still fairly wearable. I don't think you would find me wearing this around every day, but this is definitely something that you can wear around without people giving you odd looks. Keep reading to see how to get this look!

Eyes

1) Stila Eye Shadow Compact - Kitten and Go Lightly (I believe that's the name of the middle shade)
2) Sephora Long Lasting Liner in Fancy Blue
3) Cailyn Gel Liner in Fall Mood
4) Mary Kay Lash Love Lengthening Mascara
5) Missha Medium Base Brush
6) Sephora Crease Brush

Cheeks and Lips

1) NARS Blush in Liberté
2) NARS Bronzer in Laguna (this is travel size hence its tiny size)
3) Fergie Collection To Shimmer Palette in Rose Champagne Glow
4) Jordana Easyliner in Red
5) Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Always Red
6) Sephora Blush Brush

Normal foundation routine! I could use a bit of concealer, but I'm trying to let my skin breathe as much as possible since the skin care study that I'm taking part in has terrorized my face.

Prime your lids! I misplaced my Tarte primer, so I used Urban Decay's Primer Potion today.

I applied Kitten with my Missha brush from the lash line to the brow bone.

I then took my crease brush and applied Go Lightly just in the crease for a little bit of dimension.

I lined my upper lash line with the Sephora liner in a dramatic wing... I also proceeded to get liner all over my lashes which happens every time that I use this liner.

Blue liner doesn't really work on me unless I add this step, which is to go over the bottom portion of the line with dark liner. I used Fall Mood from Cailyn because it is a very dark brown and looks less stark than using black.

I added mascara and tried to cover up the blue lashes on top as best I could. I also added a coat of the blue liner to my bottom lashes as an extra little kick.

I added a touch of Liberté to my cheeks and then contoured and highlighted a smidgen.

Then lined and filled in my lips.

And applied the lip cream.

And there you have it! Patriotic, but not completely goofy and over the top.

  1. I love this! You kept the look very classy, which can be hard to do with 4th of July makeup! That liner is insane...I kind of need it in my life.

    1. Thank you! I see that you're in Kansas (promise I'm not being creepy, it was on your google profile), so glad to see another KS person here :) If you're at KU, we should have a meetup, I'm out there all the time.
